Consider yourself lucky they didn't name him "Person of the Year."

I AM NOT JEWISH but love what Israel has done and admire them tremendously. i HOPE TO GO THERE AND VISIT AND SEE THE MIRACLES THEY HAVE CREATED.. I love your reporting and am disgusted with much of what I see elsewhere. I read three newspapers a day - WSJ FT and the local paper plus listen to Fox. KEEP UP YOUR GREAT WORK!!!

Gone are the days when Time Magazine could be depended upon to be a reliable source of factual and unbiased current events.

same-o-same-0 garbage. his rhetoric may have softened about women, but his attitude re: israel still remained the same garbage! SHAME ON THE TIME MAGAZINE FOR NOT RECOGNIZING IT!!

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN TIME MAGAZINE COULD BE RELIED UPON TO HAVE AN OBJECTIVE AND TRUTHFUL REPORTING OF NEWS. THAT HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED BY THE GLORIFICATION OF TERROR, MURDER AND GENOCIDE. TO HONOR AN AVOWED SUPPORTER OF THESE BARBAROUS HORRORS IS A DISSERVICE TO JOURNALISM AND CIVIL DISCOURSE. TIME HAS DESCENDED TO THE LEVEL OF PROMOTING TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS AND THEIR SICK OBJECTIVES.

this is it.for the second time in 20 years of having the Time I am calling it quits, this time for good.
Z.A.

Why should anyone be surprised? There's always been a whif (stench) about Time Magazine of 'A Gentlemen's Agreement' or, putting aside the film reference, the tradition that brought us exclusionary quotas at Ivy League schools and quotas that forced refugees back to the ovens. Contrasted with the crudity of the Aryan Nation and similar thugs, Time's recurrent anti-semitism cast in elistist gentility is just as reprehensible ... perhaps more so for its pretenses and absence of forthrightness. Just pay attention to its word choice in addition to subject matter coverage in most articles concerning Israel or Jews generally. Sign me a former Time Magazine subscriber who cancelled my subscription in disgust.

Australians Reward Shoddy Journalism.

I am not surpiced. Don't we have a Nobel Peace Prize given to Arafat...Obama... You name it.

I only read Time Magazine because my brother lends it to me. I wouldn't spend ten cents to subscribe to such a magazine.

Shoddy Journalism.
What one can expect of a descendant of convicts?.
Australians are the most bigoted people on earth. They forget what they have and are still doing, to the Original Australians. Absolute Genocide. In Australian eyes they can never do anything wrong. We, in Southern Africa, have been the recipents of their gall, lies and deceit ever since the Cape Colony would not let their forefathers settle here.

Shakespeare says it better than I....."A gentle riddance"

About McGeough the Australian journalist who won the Walkely Award. He is employed by the Fairfax Group which publishes the Sydney Morning Herald and the Melbourne Age. Fairfax is a sponsor of the Walkely Awards. Fairfax published an article by McGeough which shamelessly devoted page after page to promoting the Free Gaza movement and replete with factual errors in including the highly disputed claim that Mohamed Al Dura was shot by an Israeli. When correspondents to their newspapers raised the German documentary and the French Court case that discredited this claim, the details were ignored by Fairfax. Instead, it issued a clarification claiming that the error was in production. This saved McGeough from undergoing some heavy scrutiny about his research and his bias. Probably won him the Walkely but also discredited the award for all time.

That he was awarded for an article which, to put it kindly, ignored the undeniabel fact that this was a set up against Israel, says all about the Fairfax Group - neither fair nor honest.

McGeough works for the Fairfax group, which is well known for its left wing, populist, shoddy journalism.
The reporters who previously specialised in Middle Eastern affairs were known for their unashamed outspoken anti Israel views.Ongoing local pressure managed to remove the worst one.
McGeough's overblown, dramatic style can be ridiculed for being poor journalism but is popular with Walkely as he expresses similar views to the left wing, politically correct, maybe even radical, judgement panel.
However I doubt many Australians take Walkely at all seriously, for obvious reasons.

In regards to Honesty Reportings Journalism conference, I am continually impressed by its high standards of journalistic integrity. I applaud its work and mission.

It is appaling that Times Magazine named such a figure of hatred as its person of the year Shame on the Times for losing its ground as magazine without bias.

It is a terrible sin on the part of Australia that a nation which prided itself upon upholding justice and freedom in its actions in battle and in its courts has allowed antisemetism to flourish by naming an enemy of Israel a journalist of the year.

i HAVE been to ISEAEL and if more people would take the trip, they would find the most considerate and loving people. i was there for several days and became very good friends with my bodyguards and others through them. these are good people, trying thier best to survive and claim and take care of what GOD gave THEM! how time magazine could allow something like this is beyond explanation. i will never read it again! also, i consider the people of ISRAEL MY FRIENDS AND BROTHERS . THEY WILL SHARE WHAT THEY HAVE WITH YOU. EXPLAIN ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY ASK OF THEM, THEY EVEN SHOPPED FOR ME WHEN IT WAS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DO SO. I CANT THANK THEM ENOUGH, SOME DAY I WILL LIVE THERE AND I CANT WAIT!

Paul Mcgeogh is Irish. I'm not certain if he holds Australian citizenship. He works for a very left wing media group and certainly portrays middle eastern events with a definite anti-semitic point of view. When he reported on the war in Iraq he displayed a very biased anti coaltion viewpoint. he is one of the usual suspects. Also the Walkely award is awarded by left wing journalists to other left wing journalists. It has no credibility!

Geoff from Sydney Australia

McGeough should be reprimanded for biased and incorrect journalism, instead of being rewarded by Walkely. The video film which any interested jouranlist could view clearly showed that the Israeli soldiers came on board for peaceful prevention of the breaking of the blockade, as they did - peacefully - with the other boats. However, the so-called "innocent" people on the Mavi Marmara attacked them with knives and metal bars, and were not kneeling for prayers but in readiness for attack with the many arms that they took with them on this so-called innocent flotilla. The travellers brutally attacked the Israeli soldiers, and even threw an unconscious one overbaord - certainly with evil intent!
Shame on you for rewarding McGeough for his false, disgusting journalism, which should certainly not have been printed at all.
