Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Israel: As Fanatical as Iran?:
What she either does not understand or ignores, is that Israel is caught up in the middle of ugly games that the world powers have been playing including the phenomenon of Islamic of Iran. Comparing Israel to the Islamic Republic of Iran, is like comparing the variety of resistance movements to the Hitler's regime. All of these mistakes come from a serious lack of understanding of the true nature of Islamic Republic of Iran including the mistake that there are some kind of reformers within it. Islamic Republic of Iran is comprised of a bunch of bandits who for the most part are not even Iranian. They were helped to power by those who had formulated Islamic Fundamentalism as a weapon against the Soviet Union. There are no reformers within it. So just the fact that she mentions that she is a supporter of the reform movement there, tells you how she and many others in the world, knowinly or unknowingly, are mistaken about Islamic Republic of Iran. This is why they freely go as far as comparing the State of Israel to the Organized crime ring of the Islamic Republic of Iran which happens to be a more serious threat to the rest of the world than just to Israel.

As a Bron Again Christian some 62 years ago I have always wondered when the end times start, why the USA would not come to the aid of Israel? After much study of the Muslim belief and how they intend to conquor the world which they are doing for sure, once a war starts with some Muslim country and Israel, the USA will not come to their aid expecially with Obama as the now president of the USA. I still maintain that he was never born in the USA and was born in Africa.
His grandmother since deceased made a statement on national TV that she was prsent when Obama was born and it was in Africa. Any person born in the USA should be proud to produce his or her original birth certificate and Obama refuses till this day and has a bunch of Lawyers fighting to keep the llproblem ouit of the federal courts. The end times are on the way and the USA will no longer be a great country. Call me what you want. But when I listen to any Muslim speakers at the UN and they continue to deny the holocost where Millions of Jews were killed during WW2 that should tell you somethng about Muslims. They lie all the time and make treaties which under their Koran can be broken any time it suits their purpose. No use going on and On. Most informed people know this and what God has for the future of this world.

Yasmin, apparently does not understand her Israeli History. Yasmin the history of Israel predates all middle eastern nation states. Just reading world history will tell you that (if you read the old History books) but then you are fortunate to have the Torah which gives an even more precise time-map of the entire area. I would suggest you really read AND study the Torah for a specific picture of How Israel came to be. Look at the Pentateuch for HIS promises and then study both the Major and Minor prophets for a picture of todays events. It wasn't in 1948 as the world would have you believe. HaShem had a specific reason for choosing Israel as HIS people. You are lucky to be seeing the fruition of that plan. The leadership is mostly corrupt we all know but what has that to do with it, HaShem is the creator, the mover AND the shaker. One more suggestion, keep your Torah handy and get ready for the shaking. May HaShem guide you and teach you all that you need to know.

Yasmin usually means fragrance, but in this case "It stinks" There is no need to say more.

I find it very disheartening that in a world of enlightenment, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown can write such despicable reports, turning her back on what she has to know as truth! When dollars constitute the significance of what is written, what a shame many are driven by greed.
When our hearts become tainted by hatred and ill-will, it is amazing how difficult it is to see the truth. The sad thing is, many of the Iranians are beautiful people and are abhorred by what is happening in the name of Iran, tainting their own integrity. They would love to see democracy and the outgrowth of such leadership that brings about integrity and care for their fellow-man. Too bad the enemies of Israel wouldn’t stop their attacks and negative tirades about Israel for one month and see how different things would be in the Middle East. They would soon discover that peace had come!
With a heart for truth and love, and peace in the Middle East.

I am not an Israli, I am a Greek. I am familiar with the history of Jews and the history of Arabs.
It would take quite a few pages for me to bring us up to date on the issue(s).
It should suffice for me to say that the Israli's have built a country that is sophisticated and very Productive. The Jews have contributed greatly to science and even more so to all of humanity.
The Arabs? They would still be living in tents if it wasn't for the Jews. Their bible is bloody and hence they are a destructive people. Sharia law is horrific. These people have nothing to contribute to the world. They want to take us back to nowhere. That is where they are, nowhere.
And, last but not least, the Arabs, especially Iran have stated openly that their intention is to push the Jews into the ocean. In other words their goal is to totally annihilate the Jews. Who in the world would want Iran to have nuclear bombs? They would first destroy Israel and take the blame for doing so. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
One would ask WHY? If the Iranians were truly for progress and for their people, they would emulate the Jews and insure prosperity for all.
I feel sorry for the Arab people. They are a lost civilization. They really aren't any more civilized than Africa. Africa too has had the opportunity to build a productive and contributing power, but to no avail. Corruption and Greed takes power there as well.
What say you?

Yes, Israel is as fanatical as Iran.
One major difference. Their individual goals:
Israel is fanatical in the sense they wish to live in consort with the Arabs. they wish to build and progress together. A productive and prosperous life for all.
The Arabs: Yes, they too are fanatical.
They want to annihilate the Jews. They wish to destroy the Jews. The so-called palestinians (when did that name come into being? 1965?) sure are fanatical. Sorry, but they definitely will lose.

Herr Goebbles said: "If you tell a lie long enough and often enough, they will believe you". The Iranians (good students of his) with their supercilious President lie about the holocaust and everything they say about Israel. Palestinians will lie about anything they can. Why not, look at what lying has given them, Gaza, and world sympathy. From day one the goal of palestinians (a misnomer) was to kill all Israelis. So far they have failed. If they had wanted their own country they could have had it 50 years ago, but they would rather keep trying to kill Jews and keep their own refugee people in camps and misery to hold up for the world to see. How can anyone not see through their lies and deceit? They are so transparent. They are to be pitied.

In addition to addressing the Indepent re Ms Alibhai-Brown's grotesque comment, I have to also take issue with commenter Lawrence L. Hawes who says that "most informed people know this ..." about the elastic nature of truth as defined by radical Moslems. I have commented for several years on a so-called progressive website ("Truthdig"), on which there are almost exclusively "informed" comments, and nearly all of them see Israel as a fascist state. I try to alter their conceptions all the time, and also comment on non-Israel-related issues where we are sometimes in agreement. But over the years have actually changed only several minds, and concluded that Israel has lost the hearts and minds of the progressive/liberal American left. Am attacking this as best I can but am only one voice among hundreds on the website. There are one or two pro-Israel commenters besides myself, but we are drowned out by the majority. If you want to help make a change and don't mind being called names and being ridiculed, please go on this site. Many of these people are academics and influence others. (But I suggest not using your real name.)

The one who threatens to murder is not the same as the one who holds a crow bar behind their back for safety when they walk through that neighborhood.
She really can not see the difference between threatening to wipe out a country in regular conferences on the topic, & denial of the last time that same people were wiped out....
And a not even acknowledged store of deterrant weapons against those who threaten.
The Memri websites transcripts of the "wipe out the zionist regime" conferences tells much more than the media lets onto. These Iranian leaders don't even understand a government beholden to it's citizens, as compared to a "regime."

Comparisons between Israel and Iran are pointless. Whilst obviously Ahamadinejad is deplorable the fact remains that Iran has been much sinned against over the past 50 years or so.
We have had Iraqi aggression which killed thousands upon thousands of Iranians with Iraq being armed and supported by the USA and UK. In the 1950's there was a coup which I believe is generally accepted was organised by the CIA and MI6 and the Shah's odious regime was supported by USA.
There was also the incident of an Iranian civilian airliner shot down by the US military in 1988.
So do try and look at both sides of the equation

Israel has never threatened another country with nuclear weapons. Israel has the weapons as a deterrent. It will only use such weapons as a last resort. Iran has stated categorically that it intends to annihilate Israel and Yasmin does not condemn this.
All Jewish people know that they only have rights in the diaspora by the grace of G-d and the existence of Isreal.
The Human Rights Council is just another Pro-Muslim Lobby. Israel and the Jewish world will always stand alone with the help of a few Non Jewish people. The no of HR resolutions condemning Israel is entirely disproportionate to the no of the resty of the Resolutions.
What about Darfur and the other atrocities committed in the name of Islam by Muslims. There is never an inquiry when Muslims are the perpetrators.
Until the Do Goodnicks realise that Israel only wants to live in Peace and the Muslim world wants us all to pray to Allah 5 times a day, there will be no Global peace.

Last night I attended a program at my local JCC. We watched an excellent documentary called The Case for Israel. Alan Dershowitz was the narrator, speaker, interviewer for the movie. It is a very powerful movie which is being distributed throughout the world. Although I did not learn anything I was not already well aware of, the movie was very powerful. The movie and the speaker whose name I cannot recall, discussed the total unfairness of the UN, now and in the past. The Goldstone report was also covered. It is so sad that so many people do not realize what is going on on our own land.

Goebbels would be in awe of the power of the Arabs from Iran to the borders of
Isreal. I was young man returned from European service in 1948 so I knew the UN
gave both parties an even shot to have two new nations to live in peace side by side. Isreal agreed and was attacked by the surrounding Arab states and the Arabs who lived in the Israel area they call their Palistein. No nation controlled that area when the British left.
Isreal beat off all the Arabs and established the nation of Israel. Time after time
Arabs nations and Palistein terrorists attacked Israel never winning a war.
The 1967 war resulted in Israel winning against tremendous odds and expanding
territory to separate space from future attacks. But so far the world seems to ignore history and as the rockets kill civilians in Israel and any kind of defense is used against people who are peaceful and only want to live in a Jewish democratic free Israel.

Let me tell you what Israel needs in this time of crisis. It is not a financial or military or even a political crisis I am referring to, but a crisis in the sense of world perception. Worldwide perception of the Jews, of Israel, of our place in the world.
More than ever, we are portrayed as the bad guy, the tyrant, the usurper, the oppressor, the mass murderer. It is this image which we must overcome & there is only one way this can be done.
Preceding writers have presented the case better than I can hope to do. I have nothing to add to their arguments, their testimony. But is the world listening?
The name of Goebbels has come up somewhere. He was of course minister for propaganda in the third reich. Ably assisted by such fanatical jew-haters as Streicher & others, whilst on the other hand the Fuehrer was extolling the virtues of the Arian race & the Germans in particular... need I say more, the results went beyond anyone's worst fears & expectations. But the point is, at the time it worked.
Sad to say, but it is men like that we need today. Men who are prepared to shout the truth about Israel from the rooftops every day of the week. Who refuse to fight from the backfoot, defending, justifying, clarifying, arguing.
No, we need men who are prepared to go on the attack at all times, a Propaganda ministry for all seasons. That, let me tell you, is the one thing Israel hasn't got. But is truly in desperate need of.
