I agree. I have been sickened by the abusive but puerile comments made on some websites. They do not present a case or argue a point - possibly not capable of so doing. Makes me suspect Muslims because their education is generally not rounded ie mainly learning to recite the Koran.

The key to the survival of humanity is mutual respect, guided by THE GOLDEN RULE. And "Don't bite the bait that leads to hate"!!!!
There are 1.4 billion Muslims in the world, there are 13 million Jews in the world. Most Muslims are freedom loving people, however, radical Islam, has one goal, the destruction of Western Civilization. Brain washing their children to become suicide bomber.
Lets help each other, not hate each other!!!

Thank you for consistently drawing attention to items that ordinarily folk are not made aware of.
You are also representing many of us who feel helpless and our views thus remain unexpressed.

Keep doing what you are doing. Though prophecy is against, you. The Bible predicts that the nations will becoming increasingly anti-Semitic and attack Israel and seek to exterminate all Jews.
But then Messiah shall come and deliver you!
I am not Jewish, but a Judeo-Christian in values and perspective, and I am happy to receive your mails. It helps me to keep prophetic time and to be aware of when Messiah shall return.
I am only sorry that you are despised by the world without a just cause.

I forwarded this on, but am wondering why an old article was used as an example.

The amount of scurrilous hatred being posted in comments and blogs is growing substantially. I find myself spending two or three hours nearly every day trying to offset the poison but the task is Sisyphean. Along with the absurd "explanations" about Jewish control of the media there is a growing conspiracy theory that Mossad was responsible for 9-11 and that real estate mogul Larry Silverstein arranged for 7 World Trade Center to be demolished. This in spite of the evidence - and remember we're talking about a well- document event just seven years ago. By the time a decade has passed, this atrocious myth will have credibility.
The level of vitriol is not unlike German propaganda in the mid-nineteen thirties, but once this is pointed out, anti-Israel sentiment charges us with "pulling the Holocaust card" yet again.
With all due respect to ADL, AJCommittee and AIPAC, the real media war is on these blogs. And we are in deep trouble.

We must do what we can to disseminate TRUTH and putdown
hate speech in all forms. Yes, there are some truths that must be put forth in order to put down the lies and deceptions of unworthy politicians, but keep your
comments honest, even when truth is blunt and painfull.
Ranting back and forth in unkindness is destructive,
and accomplishes nothing postive.

I am an active "answerer" on yahoo answers and it seems that the questions and answers in the Israel section are pretty balanced. Meaning, there are just as many members who are pro-Israel as those who are anti-Israel.
I like your suggestions, may I suggest that honest reporting provide sources for "debunking" and "positive articles"
Thanks

Very good that you have focussed on the nasty record of UK paper Independent. It is long overdue to put their distortions in the spotlight. Also, Yasmin A Brown is a pernicious and deeply prejudiced source. Her appearances on BBC TV's Dateline London for example always displays examples of her extreme bias against Israel and emotional reactions rather than reasoned thought.

On your article concerning the post of a Rabbi saying it would be better if the Palestinians were wiped out completely, you said that it was rightfully taken off the board. Up till now I thought you were understanding to the Israelis plight and what they have to fight against everyday there. I should know, I lived there for 19 years, in fact, that's where I grew up. If you were an Israeli family who lost a loved one to senseless terrorism, you may have more compassion for someone who felt this way. Although I am Jewish, I have close family who are Palestinian and I was able to get them out of the Middle East. For the very few good ones still there, they need to get out and the rest should be wiped out just as in Sodom and Gomorrah. There were other times in Scripture that G-d wiped out man, woman and child and even their animals in His compassion. So I wouldn't come down so hard on someone who feels the same way.

You guys should watch what you write. I was reading the email and saw this:
FALSE ACCUSATIONS OF RAPE:
"Jews tortured, raped and murdered Palestinians. ...Jews are stealing torturing, raping, and murdering Palestinians."
Do you mean the other stuff is true?

Having been banned from more msg. boards than I can keep track of, and observing the fact that most of them are churning with a fairly static group of participants, (with the possible exception of Topix), I specialize in providing resources to others who remain active.
My web site provides links to translations of authentic Islamic texts and several of them contained in chm files, including a digest of the most egregious ayat, ahadith, tafsir & Shari'ah.
I recently published a link building tool for use on forums allowing html or BBC without providing link building buttons. It is called ALinkMaker.exe and works on Wordpress & Blogger comments.
I created http://www.crusadersarmory.blogspot.com to serve as a repository for samples from my old forum posts. The Forum Wars I & II posts provide a model for using Qur'an & hadith quotes in forums.
My URLGenerator.exe is the primary tool for setting up unique resource locators for making a links to quotes from the Qur'an, four major hadith collections and two major and two minor tafsirs.

I have made it my policy to participate in internet forums with exactly the intent you suggest for some years now. I'm seriously thinking about quitting. There are two reasons. It's disgusting to be exposed to such scantimonious ignorance plus the frustration of constantly being called ñames by these same people.
I've noticed though that anti Isreal anti Zionist sentiment approaching classic anti Semitic sentiment is increasing. It's always more self satisified. It will never change. I'm starting to understand how the original Zionists felt and there is nothing heroic of adventurous about it.

Beyond the obviously extremely upsetting nature of such virulent anti-Semitism, the article does provide concrete ways to counter these hateful posts. However, I struggle not to feel daunted; the work is seemingly endless. Before the U.S. presidential election, I spent many an all-nighter following anti-Israel posts with replies that were low key and logical. I cannot feel that I changed even one person's mind, but perhaps I caused those who read them to have second thoughts. It is emotionally exhausting . . .

I have been participating in such media forums like you suggest for some years now. I'm thinking of quitting entirely because the anti Israel/anti Zionist sentiment bordering on Antisemitism is getting too disgusting for me to face on a regular basis. Not only is it increasing in quantity but so is the virulence of the self-righteous condemnations of Isreal. Reading self-righteous hogwash and debunking it is very hard work. It takes three pages to debunk one sentence of this stuff. Then, instead of critical responses, one gets either name-calling or links to more of the same, for example a Bob Simon 60 Minutes broadcast, as "proof" that Israel is an apartheid state or whatever. I hadn't seen this broadcast before, so having to watch it under these circumstances is much more disgusting than it would have been otherwise.
I'd be very happy to participate in your mission otherwise, though. You can write me a private message to discuss this. I'd be glad to monitor media, or to analyze some media that has already been monitored. But I'm just sick of dealing with people who disguise hatred with righteous wrath. I always knew that people can't be convinced by rational debate, but my hope was always that other readers of the forum, who weren't already consumed by righteous wrath against Israel, would at least begin to question it if they read my posts. This is what has kept me going all these years. But lately I've been forced to admit that people will only read blogs that reinforce their own opinions, so even the people reading and not writing on the forums are cut from the same cloth.
I'm willing to take part of the blame myself because my style has always been rather acerbic and even sarcastic. I realize that this alienates people. But as time goes by, I have gotten even more so what with the frustration I feel.

I find that you tube will not print my messages in response to hateful videos or anti semitic comments. I have found that many times that when responding to newspaper's bias, my letters were either not posted or worse, they have been edited to such an extreme as to make my point look like it has little to back me up. I have always taken pains to make sure that all my points are fact based. This is why I never bother writing to papers anymore.

The Independent and Robert Fisk are synonamous with Jew baiting. hatred for jewish people is based on unrational jealousy by it's perpetrators.
Fisk in particular often writes garbage in the The Independent here in SA. Fisk never reports on Hamas or Hitzbolla when these mindless people kill and maim Jeewish people. There is no question the man and his mouthpiece is rabidly anti Jewish.
Posted by: E Windsor at May 4, 2009 2:34:51 PM
I strongly condemn all hate speech against Jews, honestly.
I also condemn a statement like this from your own website:
"Everyone who is against Israel-should be called ANTIJEW and his/her life should not be the same anymore."

What happens on the internet has gone too far. Hate, prostitution, you name it. You can find it on the internet.
Did you know that there are also forums, web boards that were made specially for swearing and insulting? I mean sigh, don't we have enough of this in the real world. Do we really need our kids exposed to this from the internet too?

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution allows considerable latitude for what would otherwise be considered hatespeech in Australia, Canada, the European Union (especially Germany) and the United Kingdom.
Isolating the website where the offending material is hosted is the first step. If hosted outside the United States, material posted there may well be illegal and can be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Remedies against websites hosted in the United States are more limited and may depend on the ability to prove defamation or slander resulting in actual economic loss to the person or organisation affected. Remarks of a more generally racist nature, along with the perpetuation of myths about groups of people, are less accessible to the law. In such cases exposing the hypocrisy and falsehood of the site may be the only option.

Anti-semitism, however reprehensible, is not the only form of racism prolific on internet forums.
Sites such as http://openforum.mweb.co.za/ and http://www.theswitchboard.net/ play host to disaffected members of South Africa's formerly privileged 'white' elite, and are notoriously hostile towards the majority ANC, the current government and - in many cases - blacks in general and most things African.

I see plenty of hatred towards various groups. Is it anything new? I doubt it, probably only more visible. There is plenty of blind support for various groups, Israel included, no matter what heinous crimes their governments commit.
