It doesn't exist moderate , actually, moderate palestinian politicians- They are all terrorist looking for the destroying of the Glorious Jewish State. So what kinf of peace conversations can be held regarding Abbas attitude towards those who helped blowig up Sbarro-
Abbas is a terrorist as well.Undoubtely!!!

The book by Abbas that detailed his "research" on the holocaust, titled "The Other Side: The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and the Zionist Movement" is widely mentioned across the web. But I'm unable to find where to buy or even read a copy. I would like to read specifically what he actually said. Can anyone tell me how to find it? If not, is there anyone out there who has actually seen it?

Sorry, but on this occasion it is HonestReporting which is not being entirely accurate with its reporting. The Jerusalem Post story contains numerous caveats about the story having been reported, but its veracity not confirmed. The HonestReporting version gives the clear impression that this story is definitely the truth. This is a great site, but double standards shouldn't creep in.

I think Honest Reporting needs to be careful with the facts to retain credibility. They are doing an important job and cannot afford to be compromised. This is why I was disturbed when I looked at the referenced JP article and read the following:
"If reports that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas plans to present two female terrorists with a medal of honor are found to be true, it will be a grave development, the consequences of which Israel will need to consider, senior government officials told Israel Radio on Wednesday.
However, the unnamed officials said the accuracy of the reports had not yet been confirmed. "

israel and america share defective leadership periods. carter administration for its israel-negative postures and international misadventures and the sharon-olmert kadima disaster in israel, magnified in effect because of the us state dept failures in its mideast policies and perceptions. soon both will disappear, thank the lord.

Dear Honest Reporting:
Sometimes i fail to see what good it does to monitor the world and what it says about Israel. It really does no good and as for Jimbo Carter and others, it might even make things worse. Israel has taken the weak sister line for years; as a matter of fact it has become the biggest appeaser of terrorism of the free world. It wasn't always that way but it sure is now. One of these days it will wake up and act like it did in the old days, come what may. A strong country that intends to remain so.

AND BY THE WAY, FATAH, THE ORGANIZATION THAT WANTS TO BE RECOGNIZED BY ISRAEL AS A PARTNER IN PEACE NEGOTIATIONS, HAS EVERYONE FORGOTTEN THAT IT WAS FATAH FROM 2000 TO 2005 THAT WAS SOLELY INVOLVED IN TERRORISM FROM THE BLOWING UP OF THE PIZZA SBARRO, TO THE YOUNG GIRL WHO SIMPLY WALKED UP TO WHERE PEOPLE WERE CELEBRATING A HOLIDAY AND BLEW HERSELF UP AND A FEW DOZEN OTHERS TOO. PEACE? GIVE ME A BREAK!!

I fully understand why the media would claim that Abbas is a moderate. The Israeli government supports Abbas. It calls him a peace partner and makes no comment on him glorifying terrorism, or even having a terrorist division in his own organization.
It is not the fault of the media this time. They are following lead of the Israeli and the American governments.

Just follow the money. The biggest whore in the west. He sold out his own country, so why do we expect him to"not" sellout anyone else. Seems he lifts his skirt for all sorts of arab money.

Carter is at best naive and at worst an intellectually challenged disgrace. His presidency was a failure in all respects other than his one contribution of facilitating the peace agreement between Israel and Sadat's Egypt. Sadat's bravery in this regard shortened his life.

I split with Jimmy Carter when brother Billy took on representing Libya during his presidency. All the AMERICAN EFFORTS HAVE BEEN TO FIND A "MODERATE" Palestinian with whom to negotiate peace terms bestowing that title on anyone who would parrot the lines handed them to renounce terrorism.
Billions have been poured into their pockets from all over the world---Arafat, Ashrawi, and now Abbas while
the monies have gone into the pockets of these parrots who do nothing to repeal the PLO covenant, continue teaching martyrdom and jihad and receive Nobel prizes for peace while ignoring the track record of murder, hijackings, suicide bombings and continual rocket attacks while labelling Israel the aggressor and genocidal. How can we be so easily duped and forgetful of the past and present?Hope may spring eternal but let's get real.Concessions for "peace" means no defensible borders and dismemberment piece by piece. What they could not achieve by wars, they seem to be achieving by newstwisting and "diplomacy".. When will we realize that the weapons of mass destruction do exist-- in the minds of the generations taught to hate and believe that all who will not convert to Islam should perish and in the worshipping and lauding those who kill in the name of Allah.

Even the most "moderate" of them all is not moderate. Please don't call this one moderate or another one less or another most. This doesn't help. They are all non moderate, and backward people you cannot repair that! The Arab people are non moderate because they are backward. Their education is backward so they cannot be moderate even!

I'm not sure what purpose is served by us all agreeing that Carter's trip is just another dangerous idiocy, and that Abbas is no moderate unless in a relative sense: i.e., Hamas wants to obliterate Israel rapidly by terrorist means and Abbas wants to obliterate Israel slowly by sneaky terrorist means, his great p.r. job snowing the West, and by demographics. As Arafat said, the Palestinians' greatest weapon is the Palestinian womb. We KNOW these things. Maybe Honest Reporting should add a secondary mission of supplying well-researched articles and whitepaper backgrounders to the media that provide respectable* (*read "not identifiable as pro-Israel in fact and presentation but as accurate, scholarly history and analysis)data on important issues -- the story behind the story sort of thing all journalism majors -- including myself several decades ago -- are taught as being vital. Only a few major newspapers like the NYTimes are able to afford enough reporters and give them enough time to do serious investigative work. Such material might be welcome in the middle-size small-size media, which nonetheless reach a lot of people.
I sympathize with the commenter who said nothing will work but getting decent leadership in the U.S. and Israel again. That's true. But the fact is that Israeli public opinion has changed in that there is such a longing for peace, such a weariness of being forever at odds with the "progressives" and "liberals" of the West and of being accused of being nasty oppressors of the Palestinians, that the old determination of the Zionists and the increased urgency felt post-WWII is being undermined.
I'm a secular pro-Zionist, a huge Ariel Sharon fan and think the sun rises on the Mossad and other Israeli intelligence groups -- but I also understand the points of view of Amos Oz and David Grossman. I understand why some IDF members have been upset in the role of occupiers, while at the same time it is incredible to me that anyone in their right mind could view Jews as occupiers of Judea -- the very root of our people's name.
If it isn't self-evident to the world by now that Israeli Arabs live a far better life than Arabs in Arab lands, it never will be. If centuries of dhimmihood in which Jews lived under Arabs have not shown people that the idea of Jewish life in a demographically Arab setting is untenable, then they'll never never learn. If people can't understand the Jewish desire for a homeland even though they would bristle if anyone said, for example, that an ethnic Englishman whose family lived abroad for generations did not have the right to return to England, they will never understand.
One thing Israel might do to improve its situation would be to make the designation of a Jew worthy of Israeli citizenship not dependent on the religiosity of that Jew. This would underline the peoplehood of the Jews in a very, very clear way.
Another thing that Israel and her supporters could do would be to write about all the joint economic projects undertaken by Israelis with the Palestinians over the decades -- and point out that though some of these are ongoing many were destroyed by the Palestinians themselves in the intifada (when, I noticed, people on both sides involved in the economic projects on the West Bank were disproportionately targeted)and destroyed when the Israelis left Gaza, including greenhouses and other agricultural projects even after American Jews raised large amounts of money for the Palestinian Gazans to continue the operation.
The only encouraging thing I noticed is that Tutu and Mandela refused to accompany Carter. Personally, I think he's always missed the Presidential limelight and wants to recapture some of it though he intellect and intentions are not up to the task. Hamas is not Anwar Sadat, whose decision to reach out to Israel was absolutely his own. Carter just happened to be the US President at the time.

In my view, Iran is the basic problem. They feed Hamas, the intifadas and all the other poison. I hope that Israel will be find a way to knock out Iran's nuclear capabilities, and that our new regime in Washington will be able to negotiate with the new government in Iran after their elections provided they will have a new prime minister.

Honest Reporting hit the nail right on the head. There are no moderates in the Palestinian leadership. How can there be. Everything there is settled over the barrel of a gun.

There's a report this morning that Abbas has "revoked" (whatever that means) the award. But his, and the PA's, barely-concealed hypocrisy and double-speak are out there on display for anyone who cares to read.
I am a parent of one of the children murdered in Sbarro Jerusalem massacre. This is why I pay more than the usual interest in what’s said about the killer. So I feel the need to react when I see a news report (the Jerusalem Post report that is the sole source for this reporting about the award) saying “The two were Ahlam Tamimi, a Hamas affiliate serving a life sentence for driving the suicide bomber who exploded himself in the Sbarro restaurant in Jerusalem, killing at least half a dozen people…”
Fifteen people were murdered at Sbarro that day. Technically that's “at least half a dozen” but most would see it as an odd way to express the toll. A sixteenth victim, a young mother, has been lying unconscious from that day until now. My daughter Malka Chana Roth , 15, was among those killed. 130 people were maimed and injured. That’s my first point.
The second is that, notwithstanding the Jerusalem Post’s report describing the murderous young woman as the driver, she wasn’t.
Calling her the driver gives the impression of someone relatively marginal to this barbaric slaughter. In fact, as the court that tried and convicted her found, this young woman personally engineered the massacre, procured the explosives, and accompanied the walking bomb-person from Samaria, via the Ramallah-area checkpoint crossing, into Jerusalem and right up to Sbarro. After the explosion, she coolly made her way back to Ramallah where she personally presented the evening news on PA television, including a report on the deaths she had herself caused to happen.
There’s more background at http://www.kerenmalki.org/Sbarro_Massacre.htm

It is said that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." The corollary should also be true. "The friend of my enemy is my enemy."
If only we could withdraw Carter's passport while he's in "Palestine" so that he can't return to America...
