I think that.judging by Christine's views as expressed in her news reports that she had her story alread in place in her mind and planned to make Jews look bad.

CNN has emerged as America's first clearly anti semitic news organization. Are they in any way substantially different from Al Dura in their staged presentation of their version of the truth ?

Israel's first response should never be an apology. Go on the offensive. Blame the Arabs first. I'll bet there will very rarely be a retraction. In fact, blame the Arabs immediately, before they blame Israel. Beat them to the punch.

CNN lied to Jerusalem Post and all of us.

We get used to the deviousness and anti Jewish ambitions of the International Media. This speaking out after 7 years, requires that the Israeli PRO's and Government departments and spokespersons who have had to defend Israel in the media arena have handled this affair disgracefully and need to be fired. Which incompetent ordered the silence?
Posted by: Russell Gaddin at Oct 3, 2007 5:08:56 PM
Why the idiocy on the part of Israel, waiting 7 years to counter the France 2 liebel? We always "shoot ourselves in the foot".
As to CNN program, when would Jewish interviewees learn that CNN is funded by Moslems that will NEVER give them a fair shake. What will it take to stop those blithering idiots from talking to Christiana Armanpoor, a dedicated Arabist, and her self-hating Jew of a husband?

It is about time israel took legal action in this matter. After viewing the footage of the Al-Dura incident, it was obvious the fatal shot(s) came from the side, from the Arab position. It was close to impossible for the IDF compound to even see, much less hit, the two hiding behind the concrete structure, unless you believe in the "magic bullet" theory of rounds turning 90 degrees before striking their target. Like the tragic death of Rachel Corrie, I believe the Al-Dura incident was staged by the Palestinians to create another martyr for their cause - to continue to manipulate world opinion against the State of Israel by any means possible, even at the expense of their own citizen's lives.

As to Christian Amnapour, you were simply lied to by her. All her reports are slanted against Israel with the pretense of genuine journalism. However, she is very transparent and needs to hear this and stop looking for sensantionalism on the expense of Israel. She is doing it only to further her own ambitions.
Thank you,
A.G.

When did journalism change? It wasn't long ago that being a journalist, was to be admired.
Truth was the most important thing to report. Now your personal agenda seems to be the important thing.
Can't the journalism schools do something about this problem, or are they the cause!
Posted by: Harvey Stelman at Oct 3, 2007 8:01:07 PM
So apparently France 2 TV — and all terrorists' apologists — think bullets can turn corners.
Posted by: Affinity at Oct 3, 2007 8:57:58 PM
The truth on everything will someday be known. This is a great beginning!! Israel doesn't need lies to support what they are doing.

When Israel supposedly does something to the Arabs, the Arabs publish the misinformation so quickly that sometimes it seems that they created a situation just to give Israel another black eye.
Why did it take seven years for Israel to finally get their side of the story out?

I think Israel was lied to about the intent of the CNN program. Christiane Amanpour is a world known reporter and should carry enough weight within CNN to avoid having her decisions over ruled. I believe what we saw is exactly what she and the network intended.
Posted by: Willis McCloud at Oct 4, 2007 2:09:44 AM
Christiane Amanpour lied.

You should not use so many initials. What exactly is JCRC?

Anyone who saw the entirety of Christiane Amanpour's series on "God's Warriors" could not possibly conclude that she singled out Jews for unfair treatment. Her focus was on extremists in all faiths. And anyone who thinks that Jewish extremists haven't done considerable damage to Israel's cause hasn't been listening for the past 40 years.
Posted by: Norman Gelman at Oct 4, 2007 7:03:37 PM
Question for Norman Gelman -- Exactly which Jews/Jewish groups do you consider "extreme"? I think I agree with you; just wanted to make sure you were not one of those people who consider Zionism per se as "extreme".
The world is full of people who worship Anne Frank but hate Israeli warriors -- i.e., sweet dead butchered Jews are good, but Jews who fight back are bad. The world has surprisingly little sympathy for the kidnapped IDF soldiers in Lebanon and Gaza, whereas famous British actors write plays about the martyrdom of Rachel Corry, who died kneeling before an armored (ie, limited visibility) bulldozer about to destroy a Palestinian home into which a weapons-smuggling tunnel opened).
Also, am not sure which country you're living in. From the security of a far-off place, Jews who want to maintain a presence in Judea (West Bank)may be considered by some people, Jews included, to be ipso facto extremists. If you are living in Israel, however, facing the prospect of a VERY narrow-waisted country that could easily be cut in half in any war, hanging on to the West Bank might make good sense. Likewise, my friends and family living in a kibbutz regularly shelled by the Syrians before '67 would not be happy to see the Syrians back in the Golan any time soon.
Re Christiane Amanpour, she's not such a low-level correspondent that CNN editors would feel free to cut or change very much. So what she presented is what she wanted to present. As a journalist and editor myself, I know how easily selectivity of facts can create an impression not sustained by the whole array of facts available and relevant. Mr. Gelman is correct in that Amanpour presented extremists of all religions, but somehow the impression left by the Jewish "God's Warriors" underemphasized and in fact almost entirely ignored the whole panoply of justifiable defense measures taken by the IDF, intelligence agents and other warriors of Israel. This doesn't make what she portrayed false, just shamefully skewed. Any journalism 101 student could flag the uneven juxtaposition of the three segments of "God's Warriors" as an exercise in advocacy journalism. And sneaky at that.

there are two separate stories:
1. Al-Dura: well the damage is done, Israel apologized and therefore was a guilty party in eyes of most of public and now little thing like that although it's a step in the right direction is not going to undo the damage of front lines.
2. God's warriors is a horrible picture of Judaism and it's time to wake and be more careful what you say and where.
Posted by: Margarita at Oct 5, 2007 6:45:32 AM
To Jean Cohen-Indermark Sherrell and others,
It seems that what people have missed is that CNN gave 4 times more exposure to the Jewish extremists than to the other groups.

What a shame that the French and international press is so bias, the Al-Dura incidente is just one of the many anti=Israel reports.
The lies are never ending and should be stopped no matter what.

The CNN 3 part series by Amanpour was lacking in professionalism and blatently one sided in favor of islam. The result will be loss of viewership and lack of trust in this orgination. If she had reported honestly it would have been impossible for her to visit Iraq,Gaza,W Bank,Lebanon,Pakistan,
Iran,Afganistan and Indonesia without fear for her life.Christianity and Judaism have the maturity, tolerance and understanding to take criticism.

Christiane Amanpour is fast emerging for CNN as Lyse Doucet is for BBC. Both these TV broadcasting entities have endlessly shown open and consistant bias against Israel. Why bother to agree to any of their propositions, when the end result is a foregone conclusion? The false and often doctored images broadcast by these 2 stations has caused untold damage to Israel's international standing, not counting the countless lives lost in the process. They certainly do not need Arab propaganda-which incidently is profusely available- to demean Israel thereby intentionally exacerbating Arab-Israeli tensions to the point of causing new senarios for war. Shame, shame CNN and BBC.

France 2 should take firm action to sack those journalists who have actively or passively covered up the Truth. Tge reputation of France 2 as a news organisation with any credibility is really at stake and they should come clean now if they have any remnant of desire to avois being totally discredited as a serious news organisation in the western world and in France particularly. After asking for their resignations, they should be sent compulsorily by their former employers on tuition in how to report the journalistic truth before they can recommence employment again within the world of news coverage.
