A One-State Solution: Advocating Israel's Destruction

Is this thinly veiled strategy for destroying the Jewish state resurfacing in the mainstream media? See HonestReporting's latest communique: A One-State Solution: Advocating Israel's Destruction

This is the result of MS Rice in action, an Academic more or less
promoted well beyond her capacity and talents -Most Conservatives in Canada
considered her a fool, and a blight on the Bush Administration. President Bush would be wise to replace this foolish woman forthwith. 24 October 2007

The Apartheid system which is a place in the sun for each erhnic group works best, all over the world.
SA is being destroyed today because the world could not accept it. Israel is a Jewish State which is Apart (Seperate) from Jordan which is a Palistinian State. So the Arabs need only to move to Jordan then they will be in there own State. No need for chopping up this small sliver of a Jewish State.

We recall how convincingly Hitler lured the German citizens into the final solution. He proffered a "reasonable" way to "improve" life for most Germans, who were suffering in Europe's depression- simply rid themselves of Jews and then life will be ideal. So today Arabs and their supporters proffer "reasonable" and "judicious" solutions- all aimed at or leading to genocide of the Jewish people. Citizens of the world, do not be misled by their devilish sweet talk. They too desire the eradication of the Jewish people(again) and as such are potential murderers.

India wasn't able to survive as one state and Pakistan was created. A two state solution is the best solution.

The Arabs want it all!
- No Jews in existing Arab countries
- No Jews in the proposed Palestinian state
- Arabs in Israel stay
- Arabs that left Israel - becuase they believed their leaders' promises of victory, loot & women - come back (and try again for the same, as they are doing now: 70% of car thefts, 80% of metal thefts, similar percentage of agricultural thefts are all done but Arabs in and around Israel).
They want the destruction of the Jewish state, nothing less. And they dare call it "Justice"!!!

Of course it's a veiled, I'm not sure how thinly, attempt to destroy Israel. There will be attempts to destroy other states as part of globalization efforts proceed from certain quarters but Israel is a particular target because we have a unique mandate that is from G-d and is eternal. For Israel to survive in this era, those of us who care about the Torah, need to move back and stand firm, despite the consequences. Standing firm means rather than shun what some see as a godless government, we need to shift the power by our involvement. Especially those of us who are religious, need to engage while we are on this earth. WE have a double burden because while engaging politically, we need to engage spiritually. Ideally we were to have no king but G-d. We didn't like that idea so He graciously gave us political systems for governance. Nonetheless, our government is unique in its application of Torah to everyday life and if a proposed constitution calls for abrogation of those principles, we must reject it and keep trying. AS long as we use Torah as our guide, we will be hated and there will be those who try to bring us down to their level by any means. As Jew we have been set apart so we must reject a leadership that seeks the approval of the Nations and be wiling to go it alone trusting in the One who controls everything. Otherwise we destroy what is uniquely Jewish Israel from within and we become just another one of the Nations.

Yes "palestinian" refugees in Jordan and the settlements have been there for nearly 60 years, but I do NOT agree that this is or ever was Israel's responsibility to correct. Historically the surrounding Arabian nations' soldiers that used megaphones to tell the "palestinians" to flee as 1948's battle turned in Israel's favor. These "palestinians" were told that a later war would win them back their homes. Therefore the responsibility lies on those nations to provide adequate homes and land; collectively they have more than sufficient land mass to do this.

The Jewish people fighting for their homeland in '48 were also refugees... so it would stand to reason that if the "palestinians are to be allowed to come back into the land of Israel, then the Jewish refugees should be allowed to have their homes and land back in Europe!

History has many indigenous people groups being enslaved or removed through genocide by conquerors; even the American territories fit this category.

But the Jewish refugees did NOT invade. They were given Canaan/Philistia/Israel as a homeland due to their previous historical presence in that land; and for the political reason that they were the remaining survivors of a people group being decimated through genocide in their homelands!

And they have fought and won the battles forced upon them by the surrounding countries in the intervening years.

Granted, terrorist factions
within those countries have caused continued friction and loudly place all blame on the Jewish people.

Yet the supposed peace keeping agencies and peace loving nations that are attempting to force negotiations to end friction by yielding to the terrorist factions seem to be more driven by monetary concerns than by any desired form of justice to either the "palestinian" refugees or the Jewish refugess.

Knowing many "naive idealists," the one argument for the "one-state solution" I have been unable to counter is that, as a democratic society, Israel must grant equal rights to all its citizens. With the birthrate of the current Palestinian minority being much greater than that of the Jewish majority, eventually Israeli Palestinians will outnumber Jews and thus change the Jewish character of the state. In fact, all the examples cited in the article were of non-democratic states. The democratic states of Denmark, the Netherlands and even Britain are beginning to encounter those problems even now. Sarkosy was elected partly because the French are beginning to recognize this problem. While this may bode well for Israel in the long run, the dilemma remains: Democracy OR a Jewish state. Except for India, the division of multi-ethnic nations has always led to bloodshed and population exchanges. Yet, if Israel were to propose it, the world would scream "ethnic cleansing" and "apartheid." For the short term, the best solution I can envision is an offer by Israel to Abbas for a major territorial exchange, Israel keeping those parts of the "territories" that it needs for defense and transportation but giving up large areas in the Galeel (Nazereth, etc.) with large Palestinian populations.
This subject and its related issues needs much more public discussion than I have seen.

The Israeli government and the Jews in South-Africa all supported a one-party state-well aware it would mean the end of the Afrikaner. The chickens that you hatched have come home to roost!Dr Verwoerd and his predecessors realized 50 years before the rest of the world what the dangers of one party states meant.Today all the minorities in South-Africa suffer from Black number superiority. Follow your own advise to us: Write a constitution that guarantees minority rights and implement it. Let me know in 10 years how it works for you!

Isn't it a bit hypocritical to hit out at Jimmy Carter for saying the word "apartheid" in describing Israel's approach to segregating Palestinians, and yet claim that any suggestion of integrating Palestinians into a single nation is either an attempt to destroy the Jewish state from the inside or else "naive idealism?"

It reminds me of Bush's us-or-them rhetoric that suggests that less than complete submission to his policies implies you're a traitor. We're more intelligent than that, I hope!

And if you're going to take this route, then doesn't it tacitly approve of European anti-immigrant policies which imply that whole countries will be undermined when more and more of their population comes from a different (and "threatening") culture?

The arbitrary creation of Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and the other Balkan states is to this day cited as an example of arrogant, senseless, ultimately destructive moves by colonial powers. I don't know why this proposed single-state would be any different.

Yet it is the two-state solution that is constantly called arrogant, destructive, and colonial.

Arabs make no bones about the fact that their goal is the elimination of Israel. There is no peaceful solution as time and the Arab states have shown us and told us over and over and over.

Isralistine? NEVER!

Has anyone read the book written byJoseph Farah? Also the article Palestine:no more real than Never Never Land?Joseph Farah is an Arab, who tells it like it is !

The tenor of your remarks re: impending Anapolis conf. seems to favor new negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, while enemies of peace renew efforts to scupper progress. Can you honestly see any prospect for peace with Abbas? He has not deviated one iota from his maximalist conditions (even right of return). The only reason for the conf. is to rescue Olmert from political oblivion, and Condi Rice whose tenure as Sec.ofState has been a disaster. Sadly, Bush is being influenced by Rice. The conf. is a trap in which a willing Olmert is poised to give in on crucial existential imperatives, which concessions will be the basis
for further capitulation by Israel.
Fay Dicker

A one state solution for Israel, and the Palestinian's is impossible. One state is civilized, and educated. The other believes in killing for the common good, and has a lack of almost everything.

Unfortunate choice of words in the
HonestReporting piece. There are not
"several million refugees" from what
was British Palestine. Never was,
never will be. A "refugee" is a person who fled, or was removed, from
one area, under duress, to another
area. "Refugees" do not include the
grouping of one legitimate refugee
with 200 of his/her offspring of the
last 60 years.

If you would give some thought to this situation you would notice that we already have a two state solution, Israel and Jordan as partitioned by the UN in 1948.
Israel has within the frame work of law added land to that partition by means of victory over its hostile neighbors who attacked Israel.
What we need to do is start addressing the situation not on Palestinian and Arab terms, but rather in actual terms on the ground.
The Palestinian people are not or never were a nation. Basically they are a group of Arabs who for the most migrated to this region during the British Mandate. The population demographic prior to the Mandate and during the British Mandate bare this out. There was never a Palestinian People. The passports of all Jews living in Palestine during the Mandate were stamped Palestinian. Arafat hijacked this when he started his war against the Jews.
We should not allow the constant fabrication's by others to change or re-invent history.
We must start talking in the true terms of the situation. Israel is a single nation/state. We are blamed for all sorts of things except for those that are our true character. This is Israels own fault. It is time to answer these claims every time they are expressed. In every public conversation we should put out the truth of our history and not allow this type of political speak to change our history.
Israel is the only Democracy in the Middle East. We are the only multi-religious, multi-cultural state in the region. What would happens if a Jew goes to an Arab nation and applies for citizenship? We all know the answer to this question, but we fail to say it in public every time we are accused of being an apartheid state. if you are an Arab you can do whatever but if you are a Jew and do that which is right or wrong the world comes down on you.
Lets stand up and say enough is enough and not allow these people to create fabricated truths.
Israel is Israel, we don't need a two state solution but rather we need to recognize Jordan for what it is and constantly remind the world of the 1948 partition.
We need a constitution and bill of rights to detail who and what we are. Anything short of this will do nothing to solve this problem.
Arabs with Jordan passport should be deported if they violate the law just as any other democracy would do. Arabs should not be allowed to be citizens of Israel until the Arab states allow Jews to become citizens with all the benefits due a full citizen.

An excellent report but the following put a smile on my face:-

"Send your considered comments to The Age - letters@... remembering to include your home address and day and evening phone numbers for verification."

As if there is much chance that a reasoned response on this issue is likely to be pubished uncensored in this newspaper?

Two billion Christians in the world cannot accept a one-state solution
(Judaism is the basis for their existance as a Faith),as it will invariably mean the eventual end of Israel. Second, Christians in Arab countries surrounding Israel are an entity that will become vunerable if the one state solution is introduced. Christians outside the area have a responsibility to support, particularly the Diocese of Jerusalem, in its role to maintain links with churches in regional Arab countries. It is necessary for us all to support the present summit on the two state solution so as to
give both the Israeli and Palistinian people a much needed chance to live in peace and security. Until an agreement is reached on a suitable structure little of the states, little will change and terrorists organisations will continue to have opportunities to do their deadly work. Only when Israel and the Gaza Strip are stablised will it be possible to deal adequately with these unfotrunate people.

This is a disgusting commentary on the Australian Press.

It proves what we felt each time we visited Melbourne...a very, very prejudiced country. Everybody was beneath them, except Christians.

Jews were not appreciated, neither were Greeks. I heard comments all the time, that put down the new comers who had a cultural or ethnic background. That subtle undertone of hate permeated my visits.

the one state solution reveals the deepest palestinian (and arab)anxiety about peace with israel: namely, the fact that the palestinians know that under conditions of a 2 state peace isreal wil rise rapidly to world prominence and prosperity; though the palestinians will benefit too, they will develop and modernize slowly, with great social dislocation and pain. thus relative to dramatic israeli progress the palestinians will in fact lose out. they know it and are simply terrified of the competition. overwhelmed with fear and envy they want to eliminate the virtual certainty of a more successful neighbor.

Out of twenty-two arab countries, not one of them has a map with Israel on it, their charters all call
for the eradication of Israel, they all despise and hate Israel and have attacked her numerous times[48, 63, 67, 73] what part of all of that does
George bush and Condi Rice not understand, does that sound like a people who wants peace ?

One state solution is unacceptable. The Palestinians haven't changed their basic goal which has been to take all of Israel and end the presence of Jews in the land. This one state solution is a vehicle to achieve their destruction of Israel and achieve this goal.

Let's move on and deal with issues that will bring peace to the area and not contribute to the basic Palestinian goal which has been to destroy the Jewish state.

We need to send comments to the age whether or not they print them, just to let them know that Jews are not going to submit meekly to letting them be defined by the kind of bs this magazine publishes.

Margulies made a pertinent point too often overlooked: The higher birth rate of Arabs already in Israel will outnumber Jews in the not-too-distant future. Not sure what can be done about that. China managed to impose limits on number of children but it was a pretty totalitarian regulatory system. Israeli demographers, politicians and ethicists need to at least begin thinking about this.

An earlier commenter pointed out that Jordan IS the second state, and a helluvalot bigger than Israel. I've often wondered why the Arabs who call themselves "Palestinians" (I think that term was born after the '67 war, when they realized their Arab armies weren't going to destroy the state of Israel so launched this international pr campaign combining victimhood with negotiation but no peace, and it's working!)don't simply move to Jordan, the "East Bank" & 80% of original British Palestine. The only answer is that they want it all, and know that most people are too stupid or lack motivation to actually sit down and read the history or simply will believe anything anyone tells them that makes the Jews look bad. Amazing, that this keeps happening over and over in history. You think the anti-Semites out there would get tired of hating us and do something constructive. Being Jewish is no guarantee that someone is a good human being, but it doesn't guarantee that he or she is not, either. I have encountered anti-Semitism in highly intelligent people here in Northern California. Even friends, like an old math buddy of my husband's, of Polish ancestry, who insisted that Poles were anti-Semitic because the Jews served the upperclasses and thereby held down the poor. He was a Marxist, if you can believe that. Sometimes the whole megillah of anti-Semitism is just too depressing to consider -- but it's there, almost a force of nature, that we can't ignore. I'm a historian and journalist, but must admit I increasingly respect the intelligence and benignity of our horses more than that of most people out there.
