Is the Gaza Strip really under siege or is the reality quite different? See HonestReporting's latest communique: Gaza 'Under Siege'?

It's amazing! The Brits are still kicking Israel in the "backside" as if it were WWII. The BBC, The London Times, and the UK news media must have Ex-Pres. Carter as a major stockholder. They're all masters at warping the truth.

I would like to be able to use the GIYUS Megaphone! When will it be developed for Mac users? There are plenty of those you know!

They always manage to smuggle weapons. They can smuggle medicine too

The Daily Telegraph,

When will you start telling the truth, about Gaza and the Middle East as a whole ? When they, Hammas, start bombing you like Hitler did ?

State all the facts!!! Not the Hitler like views!!!

I am sure the world would be a better place if Gaza received it's medicines, water, power, telcom, humanitarian aid, and trade services from Egypt, rather than Israel.

What is the status of the crossing between Gaza and Egypt? The Israeli government website states that the Rafah crossing is closed. Does that mean that there is no passage possible for Gazans into Egypt?

It is becoming clear that the problems that the U.S. is having in Iraq, are similar to what the Isrealis are having with the arab states, multiplied by 1000.
Any fair attempt to come to a solution is always sidetracked to a secular answer, which is, the Islamist is always right. All others must agree.
It is becoming difficult to see a difference between the terms Islam and arab. (even "they" seem to disagree among themselves)

Frankly, It might be time for Israel to stop supplying Gaza. Let the Palestinians experience the concequences of their actions and choices.

I wish I could say I am surprised at the Brits. But I am not...

Mi,

The 24HR FAQs address compatibility with Mac computers. See this link:

I agree with you, Ken, about Israel not supplying the Palestinians with the staples. They don't get credit from the world media for it anyway...

Are we expected to believe what Hamas tells the media? They don't know how to take care of their own people, but they do know how to get the media to write things from their perspective.

Two things jump out at me, regarding the "siege" of Gaza: What other country besides Israel is expected to supply electricity and humanitarian aid to people whose elected government has declared war on the provider? The Pawnestinians toss around their pet phrase "collective punishment," yet isn't war collective punishment by definition? Governments declare war, and the population suffers. This point leads me to the second thing I've noticed: Isn't it interesting how the Gazans have no food, medicine, etc., but they still manage to arm themselves to the teeth? Maybe Iran should smuggle in some food, instead of armor piercing rockets.

waging war cost money. If Hamas has money to dig tunnels and send rockets to Israel, why then the world needs to help the people of Gaza. Let Hamas use that money to feed their people.

There's a site called Truthdig which carries an amazing amount of misinformation about Israel, with an enormous number of comments from people who are politically-correct liberals (personally, I'm a progressive and definitely pro-Israel though judging from responses to my posts you'd think I was somewhere to the right of Ghengis Khan), some badly-disguised comments from anti-Israel Arabs, and a lot of very confused people who spend their time trying to figure out who the underdog is so they can root for them. This site has the virtue of direct contact with people who might be persuaded as well as bigots who needed to be called on their bizarre opinions lest anyone believe them. HR is the best for reaching media, and I'll continue to do that as I'm a former journalist and former lobbyist for the FoI Act, but am getting a bit overwhelmed on truthdig where my display name is "Sepharad", and would love to hear more from "our" side countering the dangerous, destructive lunacy from "theirs."

I don't think you can blame the Brits for kicking Isreal, blame the media they only have very biased reporting never the whole truth and that's what we want although i have to say our Aussie media is just as bad.
Anyway are there any real brits left over there in Britain? they are moving out in droves , and i must say i don't blame them
Don't give up isreal give as much as you get.
Vern

Gaza under seige! Israel the culprit!
British media? Not surprising, in fact quite expected from such trash. Did any of the respected members of the media ever report the for the last 60 years since it's existance, it is Israel that has been under seige? Yes not only by the Arab countries, and that includes the so called moderates, but by the entire Islamic nation, not including Turkey.

Siege is exactly the right description. That's not biased. Why complain? Israel wants the Palestinians to surrender, right?

'Honest reporting' may not be the best title for your website.

Israel hasn't cut all supplies to Gaza but no-one claimed they had. They have cut supplies allowed in each day to a level thats resulting in the deaths of ordinary Palestinians though.

The UN and Oxfam both say it has cut the number of trucks of supplies allowed into Gaza from over 100 to around 20 per day (with 170 being the estimate of the number needed to supply the population of Gaza - see sources below)

Oxfam 25 June 2007, ‘Oxfam condemns the caging of Gaza : International agency calls for immediate opening of border’, http://www.oxfam.org.uk/applications/blogs/pressoffice/2007/06/oxfam_condemns_the_caging_of_g.html

Oxfam Press Release 21 Nov 2007, ‘Gaza siege puts public health at risk as water and sanitation services deteriorate, warns Oxfam’, http://www.oxfam.org/en/news/2007/pr071121_gaza_public_health

Palestinian patients totally unconnected to terrorism are dying as a result due to shortages of medicines, food , water and electricity - and many are dying as Israeli forces refused to let them leave Gaza for treatment.

Guardian 27 Nov 2007, ‘Sick are in the frontline as supplies and hope drain away for isolated Gazans’, http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,2217567,00.html
