The problem is that the democratic states in general and Israel in particular have not yet found a way to fight the biased media.
From my point of view Israeli oficials should stop giving interviews to CNN .
Besides Israel should expell biased correspondents.
This is as simple as that.
Apart from that Israel should try to launch a " Israeli Al Jazeera".
When it comes to Israel survival world perception does matter.
Not the least israel should try to turn Israeli Arabs into Zionists.
With Amazement I realized that just in 2005 an Arab Israeli citizen launched an holocaust museum.
This is unbelievable.
For good or for worse 20% of the Israeli population is muslim , and Israel had not a single Holocaust museum for its arab population.
From wikipedia
quote
May 7, 2005

On the same day that the Yad Vashem Holocaust History Museum was opened this year, a lesser-known museum and educational center was opened by a Muslim man in the Israeli town of Nazareth. ".
end of quote

Palestinians are good people.
They have no idea what the jews went through.
I have palestinian friends and I know they have no idea of the holocaust or what the jewish people went throught

I don't think Adams remark about Johnston 'reporting the predicament of Palestinians' is evidence of bias in itself, especially as Johnston was based in Gaza, and that is what one would expect him to report. However yesterday the father of Johnston made an appeal for his son's release and made some noteworthy comments that do show bias.

He makes the point several times in saying that his son is a 'friend of the Palestinians'. He also says that ""This holding Alan is not doing the Palestinian people any favours, quite the opposite," .

In the first place I don't think any journalist that's supposed to fairly reporting in a conflict should be a 'friend' to one side or the other. But I can certainly understand why any journalist would have to be a 'friend to the Palestinians' in order to survive whilst residing in one of their cities and report the news. Not that Johnston isn't himself a willing accomplice in producing the desired BBC spin on events in this area.

Secondly, the father makes the observation that by this abduction they (The Palestinians) are "not doing themselves any favours". One can infer from this that so long as they only blowing up Israeli families and inflicting maximum civilian casualties they are okay, but until they actually 'touch' the lives of the so called bleeding heart liberals that erstwhile choose to appease the militant Islamists of the world, they might then go out of favour.

I have just watched the Mark Regev interview on One to One (for which much thanks HR). We need more like him. Mark's reasoned and reasonable tone compares to the hysterical hateful bluster of the Arabs and Galloway etc. However it should be noted that those who have concluded that Israel is a pariah through their own prejudice rather than reasoned process are never going to be wound round to our point of view through reason.

Now the UK Foreign Secretary, Margaret Beckett has also made a statement which proclaims about Johnston "it was particularly sad when someone who had been a long-standing friend of the Palestinian people suffered in this way."

The BBC is not there to be a friend of the Palestinian people, they are there to report the news. The government mandate requires the BBC to be fair, impartial and balanced in their reportage, NOT to be a friend of either side. The fact that the foreign secretary acknowledges this bias is indeed outrageous

I agree with the previous posting. Israel should stop giving interviews to the likes of CNN & BBC because you can't win with these left wing fascists. At the end of the day no matter how many atrocities the Muslims/Arabs commit they will still hate the Jews more. Why is there more outrage about a Danish Cartoon than of the thousands of fellow Muslims killed by their own people and when they blow up their Mosques what about all the copies of the "Holy Koran" that are destoyed, or is this not blasphamy when one is conducting the serious business of killing one's brothers. There is no better example of this left wing hypocracy than the Mayor of London Mr. Ken Livingston. 52 innocent people were murdered on his public transport system and he still loves the Arabs and goes out of his way to alianate the Jewish public.

As Johnston, a BBC reporter and paid by the British Public, when will the BBC be made accountable for their biased reporting?
Why hasen't Johnston reported on the illegal flow of thousands of guns into Gaza, or of the building of tunnels in preparation of a war with Israel.
It was Johnston's duty to present the true picture of what is going on in Gaza and not to be intimidated by Palestinian threats. To be a credible, and respected reporter does require guts, which Johnston obviously is short of.
