Special Report: The New U.N. Human Rights Council
The new United Nations Human Rights Council spends little time talking about genuine human rights abuses because it is too busy attacking Israel. Read the latest HonestReporting Special Report and comment here.

The news is heartbreaking. So many people all over the world in overwhelming need of a helping hend and the UN plays head games!
This report could have more meaning if you had named the member countries to the new UNHRC and the names of the men on this council. Also important would be email or snail mail addresses for Annan and anyone else mentioned in your articles.
Don't you think being inundated with mail from your readers and their friends would put these people on notice that their actions are being scrutinized; that we don't approve of their actions. Without this sort of public opinion they feel empowered to do as the please with impunity.
Please give us the tools to make a difference; their names and addresses and especially and in particular, Kofi Annan's

Excellent reporting. Your exposure of the hypocrisy and blatant intellectual dishonesty at the United Nations Human Rights Council should be distributed to every U.N. diplomat.

It's about time the Western World did something about this useless body the United Nations.
They are there only to help terrorists with their ongoing agenda to destroy Israel either with fire or spreading hatred through people in the New UN human Rights Council,in order to distroy lives of innocent human beings.
Where they should be to help they are not .They just know how to make trouble in the world.
The money that is given to the UN is all wasted money. A new body should be establshed where people who need help get it and where human rights issues are dealt with in an honest way.
This is a wake up call for all

I find it very painful for an organisation which is run with money from taxpayers the world over, to concentrate on this one small democratic country of Israel, but conveniently bypasses the cruelty of so many other governments. I have not seen or heard of any citizens from Israel claiming refugee status outside of their country. So why all this criticism?
I am slowly loosing all hope of seeing the United Nations working for everyone on this planet. This organisation has been highjacked by people with an almost fanatical anti-Israel stand that it is becoming impossible for me to support it!
Why not concentrate on helping the helpless, keep a proper balance on what's happening in the world and in the Middle East?. Why am I not hearing any criticism from the U.N. of the many rockets being fired at civilians in Israel?
I'm sorry, but my childhood admiration of the U.N. is now gone. I see this organisation as a government with its very own political & social agenda, separate from its original mandate. It is a biased and prejudicial organisation which I do not and cannot trust. That's the sad truth as viewed by me.

Abominable human rights abuse is committed by the new United Nations Human Rights Council itself.
How dare they ignore the cries of millions in Sudan,Darfur and elsewhere to single out Israel for such totally onesided judgment!
My only comfort is that finally heaven will judge them..

I am totally appalled at the findings of this so called commission. They are biased against Israel and the job they are supposed to be doing is completely sabatoged by thier attitude. They are harmful to the world that lives in darkness and has REAL suppression of its people. They ignore Danfar and places where REAL DOCUMENTED ATROCITIES are taking place every day and choose to continually ignore the real problem for the Israeli & Pallestinian conflict. Israel has the right to defend itself. Israel ...seems to be the target of false reporting and condemnation by a group of people who need CONDEMING!

Sirs:
How come the general media (NY Times, network television, BBC, etc.) don't report your findings? Don't you share your news with them?
Thank you.

The United Nations is doing more harm than good. Our money is being used to harm the innocent and help the guilty. The U.N. Human Rights Council should be should be disbanded.

The United Nationss is a self serving arm of Satin. It creates more problems than solutions. When the head of it is Black and turns his back on our precious black brothers and sisters in Dar Four, then tell me about how legimite it is!

Fruits of democracy: “occupied Palestinians” had elected HAMAS into their top ruler and a quite democratically established next UN toy for international bureaucracy quite democratically deliberates democratic issues it prefered deliberating in absence of democracy in the internally self-ruling Palestinian Authority.
Does this UN System unit understand difference between “The Palestinian Authority” and “occupied territories”?
Perhaps, these human rights super-body ought to start from abuses of employers strictly following the UN rules, procedures and principles among which neutrality and impartiality are the most- your respondent is ready to cooperate.

first I think that we need to know who are the nations that make up this new body, then we can see if it needs to be taken seriously

The new U.N. Human Rights Council should change it's name to: Blind, Dumb and Stupid Council For Human Rights.

How can we get this information of blantant injustice and gross abuse of authority out to the Media world (CNN, BBC etc.)? I can forward to people on my mail list but this needs to have a world impact to expose this "unholy" assembly of United Nations!!!

The UN is just a forum for third world dictatorships. Time to get out.
Posted by: Alyn Starkman at Dec 8, 2006 6:38:22 PM
This report expresses how anti-israeli and biased is the UN, specially his leader Koffi.
THis type of information should be widespread everywhere in the world for the people to know that they are focusing in the wrong place and that the real problems of the world are somewhere else, not in Israel. The three examples given are more than evident to show how the UN's objective is not to end the world's problems, but to make Israel's life harder.

The U.N. Human Rights Council are obviously biased against Israel and are intent on using any kind of doubtful information to use against the country, even if it is not true. At the same time they are ignoring the worst offenders against human rights in other countries, as Honest Reporting pointed out.
I am thinking especially of the terrible crimes against human rights in Tibet, which is unlawfully occupied by China, and the way these crimes seem to be completely ignored by the rest of the world. This is where they should be concentrating their efforts, in my opinion, along with the other countries mentioned in your article.

Great article. Any chance you can get this editorial published in some newspapers around the country?
Posted by: BradL at Dec 8, 2006 7:07:55 PM
Am I surprised at the new Human Rights Council ignoring every other abuse done around the world, and singling out Israel? No! It is a pattern that plays out over and over again. The MSM supports this bigotted bias by not printing the counterpoint of horrific abuses happening in Darfur, Guinea, Somalia, and Palestine. The media should be calling for the U.S. to remove itself from this tainted body of despotic nations.
