The scene in Paris

Baltimore Sun's Todd Richissin describes Arafat's aides having to deal with Suha:

They were reduced to milling around the plush lobby of the Intercontinental Le Grand Hotel on Rue Scribe, near the Garnier Opera House, as they conferred in corners and talked on cellular phones, breaking occasionally to complain to reporters about Suha Arafat's behavior - careful to criticize the performance and not the performer.
They occasionally lapsed into wondering aloud whether they ought to go home after all. They drank $14 cups of coffee, chain-smoked and sank into red, velvety chairs and couches.

But they insisted that this first big test of their leadership in what might soon be a post-Arafat world was not a failure.

That's "Circling the Drain." Andrew has already linked to Daniel Pipes's "Arafat's Bedroom Farce." In a nutshell:The mise-en-scène is as preposterous as what came before, only much funnier. First, there is the wife, Suha, a Greek Orthodox convert to Is... [Read More]

Poll: French See Arafat as Hero (JTA/Jerusalem Post)
According to a French poll published Monday by Liberation
newspaper, 43%
of French people view Arafat as a "hero of national resistance" while
27%
called him a terrorist; 10% said he fit both categories.
The poll also found that three times as many French people hold
Sharon
more responsible for Middle East violence than Arafat.
In addition, 34% said they had more sympathy for the Palestinians,
as
opposed to 13% for Israel.

And on Kristalnacht Rememberance Day. . .guess they forgot to remember!

Yeah, but this includes at least %10 Arabs/Muslims who are not interwoven with French society.

This means a third of non Muslim French see Arafat as a pure terrorist! That's quite a lot!

Besides these, an extra %10 recognise Arafat is/was a terrorist but also note that for Palestinians he was a "hero of national resistance". This is also true and does not constitute any real justification or endorsement of the arch-terrorist and pathological liar whose name was Arafat and who raised the flag of Palestinian nationalism.

All in all, a surprisingly large number of French (especially the non-Muslim ones) see Arafat as a terrorist.
